Steps in Blackjack:

  1. Make a wager.
  2. Receive your cards.
  3. Dealer gets one face up card and one down.
  4. For each position you can decide whether to take more cards or stick with what you have.
  5. Dealers cards are turned over and winners declared/losers declared based on closest to 21.

Blackjack Advice

The first thing you’ll need to do when you enter a casino is choose a table, but there are several things you should know about blackjack tables if you are new to the game.

Before you actually select a blackjack table you will want to check the betting limits at the table. The same applies to online blackjack. When you enter Silver Dollar casino you should always check the limits of the game before you start playing. It is common for new comers to blackjack to start playing a game and then discover an hour into the game that the limits at the table are really to high for their tastes. Of course the opposite is also true; if you walk into a casino and start playing and you have a wad of dough just begging to be slapped down, you’ll want to find a table that will enable you to bet the highest amount possible.

Locating the information on the betting limits for a blackjack game is easy. If it’s a blackjack table at a land based casino, the betting limits will usually be posted on the actual table. Usually there will be a sign above the table, or a plastic or metal card on the side of the table. At Silver Dollar casino you can easily find the betting limits for the casino by downloading the software to your computer and going to the help section. There you will find the betting limits and a whole lot more useful information on how to play Silver Dollar Blackjack, and how the software itself works.

How to Buy Chips

Buying chips is easy. At a land based casino you can usually purchase chips right at the table. All you have to do is lay your money on the table and the dealer will swipe it up and change it into its equal value in chips. You’ll notice the dealer takes the money you give him and pushes it through a slot in the table. For security reasons this is where all the money is stored at the table. If you play at a table long enough, you may see a team of security guards come to the table and change the cash box.

The other way to buy chips at a land based casino is to buy them from the cashier. Once you have chips you can just sit down at the blackjack table and start playing immediately by placing chips on the bet area.

Buying chips at a land based casino may seem pretty simple, but it’s even easier at Silver Dollar casino. When you’re playing blackjack online, buying chips is merely a mater of a few clicks of the mouse. Once you download the casino software to your computer, all you have to do is go to the cashier screen and click on purchase credits. One thing to remember though; unless you’re buying with a credit card you will not be able to buy credits directly at the casino. If you wish to purchase credits using any other form of payment, such as check or money order you will have to use a third party online financial service, such as PayPal. With these services you can make deposits of money into an online account using a payment method of your choice. Then all you have to do is go to Silver Dollar casino and pay for your credits using the online financial service. It’s no more than a 2 to 3 step process, all done from the comfort of your own home.

Card Values and other Rules

Face cards (Jacks, Queens and Kings) are worth 10 points. Aces are worth 1 or 11, whichever is preferable. Other cards are represented by their number.
If the dealer, or the House and the player ties, it is a push and no one wins. Ace and 10 (Blackjack) on the first two cards dealt is an automatic player win at 1.5 to 1, unless the house ties.
-A player can stand on the first cards that are dealt to them at any time.
-Beating the dealer without busting makes for a win.
-If your cards total more than 21 it is called a bust and you lose. The winner is whoever has closest to a total of
  21. You reach 21 by adding up the values of the cards.

-When the players are done making their moves, the dealer turns up the Down Card. If the dealers hand equals
17 or higher, the dealer must stay. If the dealers hand equals 16 or lower the dealer must draw.
-If the first two cards make up a hand of 21 (a 10 or a face and an Ace), you win automatically. This is called BLACKJACK. This yields a win ratio of one and one-half times your bet unless the dealer also has Blackjack. If the dealer also has blackjack it is a Push or a Tie, or a STAND-OFF, and you get your bet back.

The players that are sill remaining with a higher count than the dealer win an amount equal to their bet. If a player has a lower count than the dealer they will lose their bet. If the dealer busts, all the remaining players win. There are other betting options namely Insurance, Surrender, Double Down, Even Money and Split .

-Insurance: side bet up to half the initial bet against the dealer having a natural 21 - allowed only when the dealer's showing card is an Ace. If the dealer has a 10 face down and makes a blackjack, insurance pays at 2-1 odds, but loses if the dealer does not.
-Surrender: giving up your hand and lose only half the bet.
-Early Surrender: surrender allowed before the dealer checks for blackjack.
-Late Surrender: the dealer first checks to see if he has blackjack. If he does, surrender is not permitted. -Double Down: double your initial bet following the initial two-card deal, but you can hit one card only. A good bet if the player is in a strong situation.
-Even Money: cashing in your bet immediately at a 1:1 payout ratio when you are dealt a natural blackjack and the dealer's showing card is an Ace.
- Split Hand: split the initial two-card hand into two and play them separately - allowed only when the two first cards are of equal value. Use each card as the start to a separate hand and place a second bet equal to the first. -Hard Hand: A hand without an Ace, or with an Ace valued at 1 is said to be Hard in that it can only be given one value, unlike a Soft Hand. (You can value an Ace 1 or 11 to suit you).
-Soft Hand: A hand that contains an Ace counted as 11.
